After creating a class in CK-12, teachers can use the class as a central place to organize learning materials, add students, create assignments, and monitor student progress.
What Can Teachers Do?
1. Add Students to the Class
Invite students to join the class using the available class joining options, such as a class code or invitation link. Once students join, they can access materials and assignments shared with the class.
2. Add or Assign Learning Materials
Teachers can select CK-12 resources and assign them to students. Depending on the resource, assignments may include:
- FlexBooks and textbook content
- Concepts and readings
- Practice activities
- Simulations
- Adaptive Practice
- Quizzes or other assessments
- Other CK-12 learning resources
3. Create Assignments
Teachers can create assignments based on CK-12 content and provide students with specific learning activities or expectations.
Assignments can be used for:
- Independent practice
- Homework
- Review
- Classwork
- Assessment preparation
- Remediation or additional practice
4. Set Assignment Details
When creating an assignment, teachers are able to configure details such as the assignment name, instructions, students or classes receiving it, and due-date settings, depending on the assignment type and CK-12 feature being used.
5. Monitor Student Progress
After students begin completing assigned work, teachers can review available progress information to understand how students are performing and identify areas where additional support may be needed.
6. Support Individual Learning Needs
A CK-12 class can help teachers provide different learning opportunities based on student needs. Teachers can assign additional practice or resources to students who need reinforcement while providing other resources to students who are ready for additional challenges.
7. Manage the Class Roster
Teachers can manage students who belong to the class, including reviewing the roster and removing students when appropriate.
8. Use CK-12 With Classroom Instruction
A CK-12 class can supplement in person, virtual, or blended instruction. Teachers can use CK-12 resources before, during, or after a lesson to provide students with opportunities to learn, practice, and demonstrate understanding.
